Full Bathroom and Kitchen Renovations by Handy Andy Plumbing

In a bathroom or kitchen, the plumbing decides more than people expect. Where the toilet, vanity, shower, bath and sink sit sets the pipework, the drainage falls and the water pressure you end up with, so it pays to involve Andy before the layout is fixed rather than after the cabinets are ordered. He will look at what is already behind the walls too: older pipework, low pressure or a hot water cylinder that will struggle with a new shower are far easier to deal with while the room is opened up. Our article on planning a bathroom renovation goes through it step by step.

Some renovation plumbing does not need a building consent. building.govt.nz lists the plumbing and drainage work that is exempt from a building consent when an authorised person does it, such as replacing sanitary plumbing or altering existing sanitary plumbing. Adding fixtures, such as a new ensuite, needs a building consent, and so can work that affects a fire separation or the structure of the floor or walls. Check where your project sits before the work starts.

On a larger job with builders, tilers and electricians involved, our project management service keeps the plumbing in step with the other trades, and our residential plumbing team can deal with any leaks or worn fittings found along the way.
